The Comprehensive Strategic Assessments (CSAs) are a series of written assignments applied to the student’s sponsoring organization. Assignments follow each residence period and apply concepts and tools developed in that residence period. CSA topics include:
- financial analysis
- customer value analysis
- assessment of supplier and customer conditions within the firm
- competitive environment and assessments based on a cutting-edge model mastered in the second residence period
- exploration of international possibilities during the global business seminar
- process analysis
- critical review of the role of IT within the organization
- an in-depth analysis of human capital
Based on these and other perspectives gained through the year, the final CSA presents recommendations for strategic actions.

“I think the biggest selling feature is…it’s not your normal MBA program. It’s an executive program, and the course structure from a grading standpoint and material content application is set up to focus directly on return on investment in your company. There are twenty some-odd graded assignments and at least fifteen of them are directly related to your company… Some of those are compressed so within the time you have to do that project you can’t implement it; but, a year later, two years later, you can cycle back to it and spend six months on that CSA and really apply it. I think that’s one of the biggest takeaways from tying academic projects to real-life business practice. ”
